Our Chihuahuas Are

(Bebe and Chiquita)

FINALLY HEALTHY!

We have two Chihuahuas. Bebe is the oldest and she was born in June of '91 and Chiquita was born in April of '94. About a year ago I noticed that Bebe was starting to lose her hair, was looking unhealthy and she just laid around all of the time. She had no energy and she didn't look good at all. Yet, we fed her and Chiquita the best canned dog food and dog biscuits that you could possibly buy at any supermarket or pet store. My wife and I knew that we needed to do something in order to revitalize Bebe, so I searched the internet for answers. What I discovered was shocking!

I found out that “canned dog food” is unsafe for dogs. As an example, I will just mention an excerpt of one of the articles that I found. “The rendering plant floor is piled high with ’raw product’: thousands of dead dogs and cats; heads and hooves from cattle, sheep, pigs and horses; whole skunks; rats and raccoons --all waiting to be processed.” (Towards the bottom of this webpage you can visit some of the links that I found on the internet concerning rendering plants.)

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term “rendering,” this is what it means: “Rendering is the process of cooking raw animal material to remove the moisture and fat. The American Journal of Veterinary Research explains, this recycled meat and bone meal is used as ‘a source of protein and other nutrients in the diets of poultry and swine and in pet foods...’”

Every day, hundreds of rendering plants across the United States truck millions of tons of this ‘food enhancer’ to poultry ranches, cattle feed-lots, dairy and hog farms, fish-feed plants and pet-food manufacturers where it is mixed with other ingredients to feed billions of animals.

Needless to say, we decided to drastically change Bebe's and Chiquita's diet. So I searched the internet for a healthy dog food product that would not contain these recycled ingredients from the rendering plants--which are sold to major pet food companies.

Then I ran across a website that advertised healthy dog and cat food, which did not contain any of these by-products. We decided to try this particular healthy dog food on our two Chihuahuas. Within a few weeks Bebe started to regain her health again, and our other Chihuahua appeared to be more frisky. Even though Bebe had improved from what she had been before, she was still somewhat slow in her walking.

So we put her on some powerful antioxidants and continued feeding her this new healthy dog food. Now our beloved "Bebe" is almost as lively as she had been when she was a puppy. And to top it all off, her hair started to grow back in all of the places where she had been losing it before! Bebe and Chiquita are both doing extremely well now, because we give them healthy dog food and also one of the best antioxidants in the world.

Also, we stopped giving our dogs "Frontline Top Spot" for control of fleas because Chiquita was being badly affected by the product and one day she started having seizures. I wanted to see if other dogs might be affected in the same way, so I searched the internet concerning this product and I found that Chiquita wasn't alone--some small dogs have died from this product. You can read what some individual owners have had to say about the pros & cons at Frontline Top Spot Usage Forum.

So now we have the "perfect" natural flea control for our two dogs--garlic! We give Bebe and Chiquita a very small amount of garlic as a flavoring (about 1/4th of a clove of crushed garlic each), and we mix it in with their food that we give to them--once a day. No fleas, because garlic is a natural repellant of fleas! However, we do not give them a lot of garlic because too much garlic--like onions--can cause hemolytic anemia in dogs, a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed. (We also mix about 8-12 drops of a liquid food supplement for dogs that contains vitamins and minerals. You can purchase this from your local pet store.)

Proanthenols (OPC-85), one of the most powerful antioxidants known to man

From reading about Proanthenols, I learned that they are not drugs but nutritional supplements. They are powerful antioxidants and help the linings of blood vessels to become stronger! Proanthenols are also an anti-inflammatory. We give one fourth of a tablet of Proanthenols every day to both of our Chihuahuas. Also, no side effects are known that result from taking larger quantities of Proanthenols. Besides, these are extracts from both grape seeds and pine bark and they are non toxic, non mutagenic, non carcinogenic, and free of side effects. Additionally, both my wife and myself take Proanthenols on a daily basis for our own health and well-being.

Proanthenols, or OPC's (Oligomeric ProanthoCyanidins), occur in plants and are powerful antioxidants and free radical scavengers. Free radicals are responsible for inflammation, allergies, premature aging and a compromised immune system. OPC's, or Proanthenols, are 50 times more potent than vitamin E and 20 times more potent than vitamin C. Proanthenols are 100% water soluble and 100% bioavailable. This means that they are fully absorbed and travel throughout the body to where they are needed. On a daily basis, we give Proanthenols to our two Chihuahuas on an empty stomach, by having them take it with a very tiny piece of their favorite food--chicken. This keeps us from having to force the piece of Proanthenol tablet down their throats.

Proanthenols are extracted from pine bark and grape seeds and are major protectors of collagen, the basic foundation of our blood vessels and all connective tissues--such as skin and ligaments around joints and tendons. The extraction process of proanthocyanidins is monitored by sophisticated scientific equipment following stringent standards of purity and quality assurance. Personally, I believe that the Proanthenols were responsible for giving Bebe the extra energy that she now has!

OPC's help protect against all degenerative conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, allergies, and aging--and because they cross the blood/brain barrier and improve oxygenation of brain tissue, they may be helpful in preventing attention deficit syndrome.
